During this Sunday’s live broadcast we went tapping birch sap – a energy filled drink straight from the trees. Have no fear, these big birch trees can handle tapping very well, they heal themselves in no time 🌳🥛🤩 BTW, we do our live broadcasts on Instagram at the moment!
Looking at what we cook in the forest, one might think that we never eat vegetables 🤦😄 We do, plenty, but somehow in the winter time it easier to concentrate on simple bakes… This Sunday on the forest menu: potato flat breads (with sausages)
Last Sunday we had some pancakes in the forest. Obviously it turned into a conversation about the state of the world, but one cannot really avoid that at the moment…
In the light of the current, horrendous, insane attack on Ukraine, we thought we would share the story of how Pappa HaliPuu fled the war as a child, and ended up in this village where we now have our dear forest. Hug trees, don’t kill people 💙💛
Happy Valentine’s everybody! In Finland this day is dedicated to friendships rather than romantic love, so sending you big hugs from the forest 🌲🤗 The other week we foraged some ingredients for forest flavoured marshmallows, you can join us here:

Yesterday on our Sunday-broadcast we went to see the sun on top of Levi-fell. Look how funny the trees are up there (and what an incredibly beautiful sight the first rays of sun are after a long polar night)
This Sunday’s HaliPuu-broadcast revolved around the scents of Christmas, including a Christmas tree (of course) as well as the Christmassy spices of our Chai-syrup 🙂
Today on TV in the US and around the world: Gordon, Gino and Fred: Desperately seeking Santa! Last year we had the incredible honour of hosting the three gentlemen in our forest, having coffee and marshmallows by the campfire, singing (badly) and hugging some trees. It was an awesome experience that lead to our first ever real food product being…[Read more]

We have a winner 🏆🌲🤗 Lyazzat from Kazakhstan won the TreeHugging2021, with a touching picture of her mother 💚💚💚 This is what the judges had to say: “We never know what to expect when we start going through the hugging pictures. They amaze us with the love, fun and creativity that they present, and of course the trees, big and small.
When we saw…[Read more]
